Canal Lining and Pipeline Replacement Projects

The District is committed to the responsible management of its precious water resources. As part of the 2009 Rehabilitation and Betterment Plan, the District approved concrete lining and pipeline replacement projects that are an integral part of $7.19 million in planned projects for this year.

To conserve irrigation water, the District intends, with Federal assistance, to line or reline 10.4 miles of irrigation canals, which will result in a savings of approximately 9,500 acre feet of water per year. (An acre-foot of water is 325,851 gallons, or enough to cover an acre of land in one foot of water.)

A series of pipeline replacement projects and reservoir and tank upgrades are also planned throughout the District to increase efficiencies and system reliability. For a complete list of these projects, click on 2009 Rehabilitation and Betterment Plan (pdf).
