The Open Enrollment period is in progress through November 15 for calendar year 2020.

The Flexible Benefits Plan allow employees to pay for certain insurance premiums, healthcare expenses and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars.  A Flexible Benefits Plan, as allowed by Section 125 of the Federal Income Tax Code, can provide an advantage, which can benefit employees. This benefit is realized by allowing employees to pay for certain expenses with pre-tax payroll dollars. The result of this plan is that federal withholding taxes from the paycheck are reduced and the employee’s net take home pay is increased. 

Healthcare Flexible Spending  Account

This option allows you to set aside amounts of your pay, on a pre-tax basis, to establish a Healthcare FSA to pay for eligible medical, dental and vision expenses that are not covered by an insurance plan. By using pre-tax dollars you reduce your total taxable income thus, increasing the amount of your take-home pay. It is anticipated the maximum amount for the Healthcare FSA will be $2,750.00 for calendar year 2020.  As of now, the IRS has not officially released the increase amount.  If not raised, the maximum amount will remain at $2700.00.

Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account

This option allows you to set aside amounts of your pay, on a pre-tax basis, to establish a Dependent Care FSA to pay for eligible dependent care expenses.  By using pre-tax dollars you reduce your total taxable income, thus increasing the amount of your take-home pay. The maximum amount for the Dependent Care Account is $5,000.00 per calendar year.

Premium Only Plan (POP)

A POP is an IRS-approved way for you to pay fewer tax dollars. A POP allows you to pay for your share of your medical
premiums with before-tax dollars.  In other words, the money used to pay the medical premium is never taxed.

Aflac Supplemental Plans

 Aflac offers group voluntary benefits, including Critical Illness, Supplemental Hospital Indemnity, Accident, Short-Term Disability, Whole Life and Term Life.  Dan Griffin, Aflac representative, will be at the District to conduct individual appointments with employees who are interested in learning more about the optional Aflac insurance plans available or making changes to their existing plans.
